What body shape are you?

This is my guide for working out how to wear clothes that will suit your body shape!

  • If you are tall and thin, then you should wear clothes that give a sensation of volume and play with layers. Horizontal stripes are good for your type of body, because they give a nicer illusion against a tall and thin body, rather than sharp clothes that would make you also look sharp and bony. Furthermore, cutting the silhouette in two with garments of different colour or pattern or a belt really suits.
  • If you are short, with rounded forms, wear garments in just one colour and darker tones. In pants suited, the jacket should be fitted at the waist, and stop below the hips. Vertical stripes, particularly in black and white, are recommended. Curvy, figure-flattering clothing can also look lovely.
  • If you are athletically shaped (i.e. muscly), a masculine style suits perfectly.
  • If you have thin legs, patterned leggings add more volume to naturally thin legs. Choose similar coloured clothing for legs or multiple layers.
  • If you have short legs, on the other hand, trousers with straight legs and a high waist look fantastic make the legs look longer. Wide legged pants can also flatter, but only in sheer fabrics. Long-length dresses don't suit so at parties, tend to wear cocktail dresses.
  • People with narrow shoulders, avoid chokers or short necklaces- as well as shawls and scarves that wrap around the neck. With dresses and tops that have wide straps, wear them towards the outer end of the shoulder.
  • Those with thick hips, need to draw attention away from the hips- no tight things around the waist. Garments that cover the hips flatter. Skirts should be wide with drape; trousers in sheer fabrics.
  • For those with wide waists, style with lots of draping styles to flatter this body type. Try A-line dresses and coasts.

#Saturday Styles

OK, Kristen Stewart isn't random...
and I don't usually praise her style but at least
this shows off the style I'm trying to get at!

#Saturday Styles: Crazy about converse and dress together for a more casual, laid-back style!
Here's my friend showing her converse/dress style, and some more random others below...

Appropriate clothing colours for hair

OK, so after that bit about hair-shaping, I'm moving onto colouring of clothes depending on the colour of your hair. Sorry if I missed your hair colour out!

  • If you are a brunette at heart, go for lemon yellow, fuchsia, turquoise, blue-green, emerald and purple coloured clothing.
  • For red-heads, wear vanilla, gold, salmon, apple or dark green or lavender. Wear lots of colourful layers, and mix and match patterns.
  • If you have blonde hair, you should wear pale pinks, strawberry red, mauve, mint green, sky blue or lavender  coloured clothing (basically pretty baby colours)
  • And finally, if you have jet-black hair, than you are very lucky. Black is neutral when it comes to clothing, so you can wear pretty much anything. I'd go for some bright sunny colours to bring out the warmth in you.

How to embrace the shape of your face

Today- as well as being the weekend- it's also time for styling advice. If you want a new chic you, follow my advice to find out what hairstyle would suit your face-shape. More info coming soon!

Hair Styles for:
  • Pear-shaped face: the cheeks and triangular shape of this face stand out particularly, accentuating the force of the middle half of the face. Try adding volume to the top to balance things out, or long bangs!
  • Square face: this face type, generally categorized by a wide chin, causes the face to look square and long. In this case, suitable hairstyles would include volumous, loose and natural. Short but not straight or close to the face as this makes face look harder and less stylish.
  • Rectangular face: long faces like these have greater volume added to the upper head. To flatter this, go for looks that shorten and soften the face like loose curly hairstyles with movement falling over cheekbone area.
  • Oval-shaped face
    square face shapes
    Square-shaped face
    Pear-shaped face
    Rectangular-shaped face
  • Oval face: all types of haircuts and styles suit this shape of face- dare to get super short, add volume and change style frequently to see which YOU think looks best to match your individual features.
I hope this hair guide helps you to get a good idea of what hair style would suit you,
Yours,

Fantastic Flowers

 Heya!
Attached are some AMAZING photos from a flower parade in Holland, a show that has lasted 77 years. And, yes, they are totally made of flowers!!!

What began in 1936 has become the oldest and most celebrated ode to blooms in Europe, with an average 50,000 visitors descending on the town to look at the brilliant displays.
Creators use dahlias for their breathtaking displays and build gravity defying sculptures.
And my favourite...

Hairway to Heaven: Beautiful Bee-hives

Today, I am going to give you a step by step guide of how to do a beautiful bee-hive-style hair-do with pictures. This look is simple, easy to do and looks stunning. It can be worn to college (i.e. sleeping in curlers) or at special events- and it always looks right. And remember- it doesn't have to be neat! P.S. I admit it's not a brill photo on the right but it's not about the model- it's all about the hair!

    1. First, divide the hair into three equal sections horizontally: the front section (not necessary if you already have a fringe), the middle section (from ear to ear) and all the remaining hair from the bottom (doesn't necessarily need to be tied up).

    2. Then, curl the 2nd and 3rd sections using either curlers (that you can sleep in) or electric tongs.

    3. Now, remove the hairband securing the middle section, and backcomb the hair by dragging your brush in the opposite direction to how you'd normally brush your hair.

    4. Next, bump section two up, and secure in place with slides.

    5. You should then take off the hair band from section 1 and divide it into a side parting. Pull each side of the parting backwards and secure beneath bee-hive bump. Equally, the front sections can be plaited and tied back. If you already have a fringe, this step is not necessary.

6.Secure the lovely hair style with some hair spray and decorate with floral slides to make the hair-do look it's best.

    Et Voila!!!

    Truly xxx

Fashion Fix- The difference between Failure and Success!

Shown above are some LOVELY styles from the Emmy's, including character of 'Lily' from How I met Your Mother, 'Penny' from Big Bang Theory (Kaley Cuoco) and another girl whose name I cannot remember. All showing off beautiful dresses and hair-do's. Love the pink matching cropped top with maxi skirt from girl numero 3, as well as Penny's beautiful rouge layer dress, and Alyson Hannigan- well, I just love HIMYM and her dress is quite nice and flattering too! Furthermore, the final candidate for fashion success, is this random (soz if she uber famous) but awesomely dressed lady. The overall darkness of her hair and whole dress is suddenly changed by the hint of light in the little white shoes she shows a slither of in the cut of her dress. I love this lady- whoever she may be.

Below are some people who tried hard- and had some bravery... but couldn't quite pull it off. I mean, I know I would never wear any of the below styles. Just NO! No. 1 has it all wrong. Make up; face shape; hair stlye; shoes; DRESS...Would you like some fairy wings no. 2? Ok, it's alright but better luck next time. Number 3: nope, cosmic just really isn't working for me! And number 4, I feel bad for how enthusiastic she looks (facially) but around the body area (e.g. dress) it's just like... no.

Love Truly xxx- Oh and soz if I sound rude but I take fashion personally! jk ;)
P.S. Now that is just adorable:!

    Happy Birthday Millie!

    Happy Birthday!

OK- although it's not my birthday- neither is it my friend Millie's birthday- I just want to let all those birthday celebraters out there that (as well as saying 'Happy Birthday' to you) I know a brilliant thing that you can buy to celebrate with your friends:

    Millie's Cookie Cakes!

At a sum of around £13.79 (varying on the specific shop you visit), these cakes are delicious and tasty and can be found in many places including Boston, Westfields, Hammersmith etc.
Because they may be a little expensive, it's a good idea to collect from friends so the price is less. We used to do this at my old school as a tradition but I hope to continue it now anyway!
    There's even competitions!

    Just a suggestion,
    Love Millie Truly!

    Tech reviews

    Hallo!
I'm sure you've all hears about the new iOS 7. Just in case you are wary about downloading it, I'm gonna give you my opinion and some others' too to help you decide.

So, I personally think that the new software, iOS 7 isn't that different from the layout and settings of how my iPad used to be... but, according to the apple store, a lot has changed.
    Some key features include:

    • Different layout: not very interesting- simply a different way at looking at things.
    • 'All new features, including Control Centre and AirDrop' (not particularly spectacular)!
    ...OK: that's pretty much it!
There are more ways of taking photos, easier ways of accessing safari and you can also listen to the radio with ease. But all in all, it's nothing to go mad about (in my opinion).

Here are some other people's views:

"Do you believe that by downloading iOS 7, you’re going to be welcomed into an entirely new software world that will answer all of your dreams and address all of your issues?
    Think again." -says Dan Reisinger
James. A. Martin said, "Good: iOS 7 automatically updates your apps, if you want it to. You see an option to enable the feature the first time you update your apps. Thank you, Apple!"
"My jaw dropped because Jony Ive’s much-anticipated new look for iOS 7 leaves the impression that the icons were designed by an eight-year-old who found his sibling’s pastel markers, started drawing, then gave up halfway through but decided to hand his work in anyway." said Michael Grothaus
And there you go, Hope it helped,

    Short Emmy's Update!

    Hey guys!
I'll post more about it tomorrow but here's a short update on what's going on at the Emmy's tonight!
Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn accept the award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program for Project RunwayIn the pic, Heidi goes for a kiss after achieving Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program for Project Runway! Looking beaut as always!
And for some people I've personally never heard of (soz if I'm missing something really obvious or something like that), here is:

Marie Larkin and Yvette Stone at the 65th Creative Arts EmmysMarie Larkin and Yvette Stone (apparently). Yvette- or the one on the right- is rocking a lovely curly blonde hair style with a more natural brown undercoat. Yet, whilst her dress is lovely, it doesn't quite flatter her arms... maybe something like a vertically striped long-sleeved short dress to create an illusion of tall and thin.

    More updates coming shortly,
    Love, Yours Truly xxx

    Truly's Treats (Truly Scrumptious)

Truly's Treats: So, now I'm changing from the subject of celebs etc. to show you how to make my very own:
    'TRULY'S TRIPLE CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES'.

    All you need is:

    • 185g Plain Flour
    • 115g Dark Chocolate
    • 85g Butter -I prefer unsalted (+ more for greasing)
    • 2 Large Eggs or 3 Medium (separated)
    • 1 tsp Baking Powder
    • 1 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
    • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
    • A pinch of Salt
    • 175g Soft Brown Sugar
    • 250ml Semi-Skimmed Milk
    And for the icing:

    • 300g Milk Chocolate
    • 100g White Chocolate
    • 60ml Double Cream
    • 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter (at room temperature)
    • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
And although that all looks like masses, I never usually follow the recipe so what is listed above is just a basic outline!

    1. First, preheat oven to 190 degrees/ gas mark 5. Line a cupcake tin for about 16+ cupcakes (I always tend to have more).
    2. Melt the chocolate either in the microwave or over hob.
    3. Whilst the chocolate cools, cream the butter and sugar together using an electric hand beater until pale and smooth. (This may take a while).
    4. In a separate bowl and with clean beaters beat the egg yolks for several mins. Slowly add the egg yolks to the creamed butter and sugar and beat well. Then, add the chocolate to this mixture and beat well.
    5. Combine the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt.
    6. Combine the milk and vanilla in a jug. Add the flour mixture to the chocolate, butter and sugar, alternating with the milk and vanilla. Beat very well after each addition.
    7. In a clean bowl, whisk the egg whites until soft peaks start to form. Carefully fold the eggs whites into the main batter- allowing much air to get into the mixture using light movements.
    8. Spoon the mixture out equally into cake cases.
    9. Place the trays in the oven and bake for 20-25 mins. When they come out, leave in their tins for 10 mins or so before placing on a wire rack to cool.
    And for the icing:
    1. Melt the chocolate either in the microwave or over the hob.
    2. Once melted, add cream, butter and vanilla extract and beat well with electric hand mixer until smooth and well combined.
    3. Ice each cupcake and decorate however you choose! I tend to grate white chocolate over it or cover with sprinkles!!!
    Enjoy, Truly xxx

    Primetime Emmy Awards tonight!

    Hello!
Tonight will be the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards- tv's biggest event of the year- held in Los Angeles so keep your eyes peeled! http://www.emmys.com

...Just a quick sneak: absolutely loving the bravery of Mandi Line here as she rocks the crazy slick hair-do and orange print dress.
    Mandi Line and Ted Barba
The over-lap of chunky jewellery matching the pattern of her dress, styled with thick black belt and leopard-print clutch to add a bit of spice.

And who could have guessed 'How I Met Your Mother' star, Neil Patrick Harris will be hosting it... I mean, who doesn't love HIMYM (okay, I made that abbreviation up but it takes so long to write). And for all of you who don't know, it's an amazingly hilarious American Comedy on E4 -watch it if you don't already!

The above video is from two years ago but I find it interesting anyway... or you can watch the more recent one below.

Anyways, I'll be blogging about it all later and if you have any requests, just get in touch. Talk soon, Truly (Sensational) xxx
